About Us
Matter Threads Co. began in 2016 at Kent State University as a creative extension for brothers Steve and Chris's music duo, Young Troubled Minds, and a circle of close friends. Rooted in shared roots and storytelling, the goal was simple: create intentional apparel that reminds people to do more than simply exist—to truly matter.
In 2020, our journey evolved into an intimate family craft when Tyra, Steve’s wife, taught herself the art of machine embroidery. This addition transformed our brand, elevating our signature pieces with a smooth satin stitch that puts warmth and intention into every detail.
Chris shapes our visual identity from Atlanta as a senior graphic designer, ensuring every design detail and colorway lands with purpose.
Steve is our numbers guy and strategist always dreaming up new ways for our small business to grow. While using his Data Analyst background to turn our creative ideas into sustainable steps forward.
Tyra, a dedicated stay-at-home mom with a sharp creative spirit,brings the intuition, heart, and aesthetic vision that ties it all together.
